Talking About Listening To Music

How I Listen to, Curate, and Appreciate Music

“Art” comes with a lot of baggage. The true definition of the term is hotly contested, but it’s simple really. Art is a product of the incessant, insatiable desire to express emotions. It doesn’t need to reach anyone else—the exhalation is all that matters—but sharing pain, joy, etc. often amplifies catharsis. Ideally, recipients experience the same emotions that the artist intended to communicate.

If you decide to stop reading and never visit this blog again, I hope to see you off with one thing: Pay attention to how the music you are listening to makes you feel. If it makes you feel something, that’s enough, but if it fills you with the sorrow, ecstasy, rage, warmth, or the infinite number of emotions the artist may trying to convey, know that you are listening to the finest art possible. Nothing else really matters.

But you’re here, on some tiny little music blog, so you probably already know all that and are patiently waiting for me to fulfill the promise of the title. Thank you for being here, by the way.
